Please join us in the FIGHT!!
Hey Friends,
THANKS to ALL who showed up to the Ustream chat last week and heard the very first announcement for our Susan G Komen 2010 Race for a Cure team, “A Ray of Hope!” For those of you slackers who didn’t show, tisk tisk! :) Here’s what you missed….
We’re gearing up for the 2010 Race for a Cure in Nashville, TN! Oct 9, 2010!!
Last year was our very first year to participate as team “A Ray of Hope,” and Im so proud of our accomplishments, and yes i call waking up early on a Saturday morning an accomplishment, for me anyway. :) We raised over $5,500 for the Susan G Komen foundation and 75 people joined our team! Awesome, I know!!
As a lot of you know my Mama was diagnosed with 3 different kinds of breast cancer Sept 14, 2008, that day my world literally stopped. Until then we had had no history of breast cancer in our family so i wasn’t familiar with how evil and devastating it is. The truth is breast cancer is striking more and more women everyday. I recently read that every 75 seconds someone dies from breast cancer. I hate to say it, but Im sure a lot of you know at least one woman who has been diagnosed. After hearing learning how often it strikes, and seeing first hand my own mother lose both of her breasts, undergo insanely painful chemo and radiation, and fight for her own strength, I feel it is my job, as well as an honor for me to recruit our team again this year to help fight this terrible disease!!!
We have a few fun events planned for the next couple months leading up to the race that we’ll keep you informed about as they come, but for now head to KomenNashville.org and sign up NOW!!! Make sure you register under our team name “A Ray of Hope” in order for our team to get the credit. If you cant physically be in Nashville on race day, no worries, you can still sign up to be apart of our team just click the “sleep in for a cure” option, and we’ll mail you your t-shirt. But ALL are welcome, we would love to see you on race day!!
Please join me in celebrating my Mama, lets walk for her! Lets walk for those who may have lost their battle with breast cancer! For the families of anyone and everyone who have ever stood face to face with this dreadful disease, lets walk for them!!
Love yall so much, Im truly blessed to have the support of such wonderful people like you, i promise to never take it for granted! Thank you!!
xo
A Ray
